Las Quatro Harwoods

Holler Days

Yep, it has been that kind of week.  We made it through Christmas and we’ve hit the holler days.  I won’t sugar coat it.  The last couple of days have been rough.  Maddox is going through some trying times.  As in he’s trying every last trick in the book to see what he can get away with.  Sneaky, snarky, sassy, shooo!

Josie’s giving her fair share of troubles too.  The car seat is often a battle.  She want’s to do it all herself, but that could take any where from 1 to 4000 minutes, so it often ends with a WWF move to pin her in there.  She’s also decided that she needs a rest stop from sleep at 2 am every night.  Wakes up, calls for mommy and wants to rock.  Some nights that’s it.  Some nights, like last night, it’s lather, rinse, repeat.

So that’s the rough stuff.  On the otherside of things, I have to say it has been a most excellent year.  It really is hard to believe that Josie is about to turn two.  Sometimes I look at her and wonder where this little person came from.  She’s talking a mile a minute, telling stories, singing songs, and working on her jokes.  It really is fun.  She loves to tell about things that just happened.  Oh and when she talks about wanting to go places or do things, she always includes a list of who she wants to go with her.  Usually its Mommy, Maddox and Daddy, but not always.

Josie has started wearing big girl underwear too.  With relative success I might add.  She’s gone several days without accidents and when she has had one it has often been due to our oversight.  It’s pretty crazy to hear her ask to go potty.

Maddox is in a phase.   I think that sums it up.  I also think he has missed being at school over the past couple of weeks.  He says he likes to stay home and often doesn’t want to go places, but I think he needs the stimulation of school.  He’s so smart and has so much energy these days.  Sometimes I think we just can’t keep him busy enough.

He got a skateboard for Christmas and he’s really excited about that.  It’s been a little too cold to ride it the last couple of days, but he’s talked big about all the tricks and things he’s going to do.  He’s already asking when he can ride on a ramp.  Funny.  He also bought himself a remote control car with his Christmas money.  It has run non stop for the past two days.  He’s already run through one set of batteries.

So the next year coming will certainly bring with it new challenges, as each and every day does.  But I saw a bumper sticker the other day that I actually liked.  It said something like “The only difference between an obstacle and an adventure is attitude.”  I’m trying to remember that.  We’ve definitely got some adventures coming our way.
